Sleeping Giant State Park – East Parking
Don’t let ticks keep you inside. Come join us for a hike at Sleeping Giant State Park and learn about tick prevention.
We will be meeting at the Sleeping Giant East Parking area off of Chestnut Lane in Hamden. From there the hike will take us along the White Trail with views down to Long Island Sound. We will return via the Blue Trail.
The hike is free, but we kindly ask that you register (below) so we can know how many people to expect. Please bring your own food and water.
Meeting Place: Sleeping Giant East Parking area off of Chestnut Ln in Hamden. Meet at the trail map.
National Trails Day
Saturday, June 3rd 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Devil’s Den Preserve
This will be a moderate hike passing by Godfrey Pond and the remnants of an old saw will. Please bring your own snacks and water. It is best to wear closed toe shoes.
Meeting Place: Rt 57 N through Weston, right at Godfrey Rd, Preserve on left, park by the trail map sign.
Devil’s Hopyard State Park
We will follow the Orange Trail through the park with a stop at a scenic view for a snack break. Our hike will also include a visit to Chapman Falls. Bring your own food and water. There will be some steep sections.
Meeting Place: Covered bridge inside the main entrance on Hopyard Rd.
Sleeping Giant State Park
Come out for a fun, challenging hike along trails within the Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail System. We will ascend Sleeping Giant to the tower and return via several different trails. Bring water and snacks. Wear sturdy footwear.
Meeting Place: Main Sleeping Giant State Park entrance at water spigot just before picnic area. 200 Mt. Carmel Ave

Day Pond State Park
Come join us at one of our staff’s favorite parks! We will be hiking along the Salmon River Trail and showcasing different camp stoves and water filtration devices. Find out some of our staff’s top camping recipes and taste test to decide for yourself.
We will be meeting by the bridge on the north end of Day Pond. Please bring your own food and water.
