Name: Chuck Butler
Location: Denali Trumbull
What are your favorite outdoor activities?
Hiking, biking, grilling, and gardening
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Kind, patient, and cautious
What is your favorite piece of gear?
My go to boots for hiking are my Lowa EVO GXT. They are so comfortable and when I’m done with the trail the only part of my body that doesn’t hurt are my feet. And of course my ENO Hammock.
Where did you work before Denali?
Before I took my talents to Denali I worked for Bob’s Stores and before that Foot Locker.
What do you do in your free time?
Well, I’m a dad so I don’t have much free time, but when I do I hike, work on my lawn/garden, and go to the gym. I’m a big sports fan so I watch a lot of my favorite teams; the Sixers, Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies. Philly all the way! Additionally, spending time with my family on road trips or sporting events.
What is one goal you’d like to accomplish?
I’d like to own a nursery/farm. I would grow and sell vegetables, flowers and plants. Moreover, showing young people the importance of being self-sustainable.
What is your dream vacation?
I’d like to go to Alaska and see the Northern Lights and visit Denali National Park.
What are some of your guilty pleasures?
Cheesesteaks! Not the “Philly” cheesesteaks you get in Connecticut. Where I come from they are just called cheesesteaks. I try and have one every time I’m back home. I also love going to Wawa. Don’t know why, they just get me.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
I grew up in the southern part of New Jersey and I loved spending the summers with my grandparents in Philadelphia. It was a nice change to my suburban neighborhood. Moreover, many times my family would take trips “down south” (North Carolina and South Carolina) to visit extended family members.
If you had a superpower …
Anyone who knows me knows I love Batman. He doesn’t have a superpower, but he is the world’s greatest detective and his selflessness was something that I admired even as a young boy.
