Gear up for Camping
By Abbey Nesper, Denali Old Saybrook
With the warm weather approaching, everyone is itching to spend more time outside, and what greater way to get out than to go camping? Whether you are preparing for your first camping trip or just looking to refresh your outdoor gear, Denali has what you need. We’ve created the perfect checklist of three warm-weather camping essentials (and one bonus item!) to make your outdoor experience fun, comfortable and hassle-free:
Incredibly lightweight and packable, this is the perfect sleeping bag for warm-weather camping. The Marmot Nanowave 50 is packed with features at a great value. This lightweight bag comes with its own compression sack, allowing it to be stuffed down smaller than a two-liter water bottle. Its semi-rectangular shape and full-length zipper maximize freedom of movement and comfort while sleeping. The exterior of the bag is treated with a durable water-repellent, which sheds light moisture beautifully. Simple and versatile, the Nanowave 50 is easy to throw in a backpack or into the trunk of your car.
Seasoned and first-time campers alike can all agree on one thing: the Marmot Limelight. This tent has an intelligent design in a lightweight, comfortable, and easy-to-assemble package. The unique zone design creates vertical walls, allowing for a greater livable space, giving you hotel-like roominess in the great outdoors. Doors on each side of the tent mean no more climbing over your hiking buddy in the middle of the night!
The comfort continues in the weather-resistant Limelight. Ever had rain seep through the bottom seams of your tent? Catenary-shaped floors lift tent seams just a few inches off the ground, keeping your tent bone-dry and free from condensation and rain. The Limelight also includes a footprint and a rainfly (great values for a tent of this quality). If the night is clear, roll up the rainfly, take in the warm air and look up at the stars through the all-mesh walls. Setup takes minutes and is made fuss-free with color-coded clips and poles. So whether you are driving right up to your campsite or taking a short hike to find the perfect spot, make sure to bring your Marmot Limelight with you!
The EagleNest Outfitters (ENO) DoubleNest Hammock is THE hammock for enjoying the great outdoors. The DoubleNest is the perfect size for sleeping, napping, or hanging out at the campsite, and it’s super packable design stuffs into its own pocket. It comes with strong carabineers and can support up to 400 pounds. The Atlas Straps suspension system (sold separately) allows you to set up your hammock anywhere, for dozing in the summer sun or sleeping under mountain stars.
If you haven’t heard of Luci Lanterns, prepare to fall in love. This little inflatable solar light is all you need to light your outdoor adventures (and can be used in a pinch in emergency situations, too.) The compact design collapses to a flat disc, and comes with a built-in carrying handle that can be used to latch onto your backpack during the day and hang from the top of your tent at night. Allow the solar panel to charge daily and you’ll have clear, bright light all night. No cords, no batteries-no worries.
